Bloom Festival announces folk-soaked line up

This splendid independent boutique festival is in its fourth year, and
this is the year of the folk act. FFS Favourites Noah and the Whale,
Alessi’s Ark and Ryan O’Reilly are included on the ever-expanding line
up for this musical extravaganza, which will see entertainment spread
across six stages.

Leisure Society and Bandstand Busking up for prestigious awards

It’s a hugely exciting time for the new-folk crowd. In the past week it has been announced that London-based Wilkommen Collective act The Leisure Society has been nominated for an Ivor Novello award for their song The Last of the Melting Snow, released last Christmas.

Laura Marling announces “very special” London show

Laura Marling has announced a ‘very special’ show on London’s Southbank via a handwritten note on her Myspace. The show will take place at The Royal Festival Hall on 11th August and Laura has said it will feature “some of the boys”. Some boys Laura frequently appears with include Mumford and Sons, Johnny Flynn, Cherbourg and Jay Jay Pistolet.

At For Folk’s Sake we love the music of Peggy Sue and the whoever-they’re-withs really rather a lot. So we were jolly pleased to get a bumper press release with news about a new release, headline tour, forthcoming album and festival slots.

Slow Club and Theoretical Girl to play free gig on Sunday

The folks at bandstand busking have announced the first busk of the spring. FFS’s favourite boy-girl shout-folk duo Slow Club will play alongside Theoretical Girl this Sunday 5th April at the Northampton Square bandstand in Islington, North London.
