Drunken Trees really isn’t a bad name for a record that would provide the perfect soundtrack for a cider-soaked spring picnic in the park. The mix of languid guitars, interweaving vocal harmonies and perfectly charming lyrics might seem a bit familiar, and though it doesn’t necessarily push boundaries, there can be no doubt that Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg have crafted a wee nugget of loveliness here.
Johanna and Klara of Sweden’s First Aid Kit are teenage sisters who are taking the folk world by storm. Their debut EP Drunken Trees, which has been available in their home country for a year, is soon to be released in the UK. For Folk’s Sake caught up with the girls for a quick chat.
First Aid Kit will be arriving to patch up London town with an instore set at Pure Groove Records on Monday February 23rd at 1:15 pm. Yes, this is lunchtime and yes, it’s a Monday, but we put it to you, FFS fans, that we can fill that wee record shop with like-minded individuals and make Monday that little bit brighter. Off the back of an enthusiastic response to their first EP Drunken Trees, Scandanavian duo First Aid Kit are coming to London for a couple of dates in December. They will play at Soho’s 12 bar club on the 15th December and the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen on the 16th.
