It’s that time of year again where people will be packing their wellies, baby wipes and cider and heading to Somerset for the highlight of many people’s summer, Glastonbury Festival. Taking place from the 26th to the 28th June, with only a week to go until the mayhem begins here’s the rundown to the bands you wont want to miss this summer, no matter how sunburnt/drenched/drunk/hung-over you may be!

Communion hosts folktastic stage at Bloom festival

Communion has announced a corker of a line-up for its first festival. The London – and now Brighton – night organised by Kev Jones of Cherbourg and Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons, has curated a folk stage at Bloom in Bristol.

After a big mix up the night before in Manchester, I find myself seated in the pews of Leeds’ Holy Trinity Church awaiting my first ever Alessi’s Ark show. The reverence of the space compresses the audience’s speech to a mousey whisper and as she prepares onstage Alessi looks equally nervous.

Dreamstress of wonder Alessi’s Ark has begun an epic tour of the British Isles in a bid to spread her web of wonder far and wide. Her travels will take in an eclectic range of venues including instores and one very special gig at a farmhouse which was once a haunt of the Bloomsbury group.

Bloom Festival announces folk-soaked line up

This splendid independent boutique festival is in its fourth year, and
this is the year of the folk act. FFS Favourites Noah and the Whale,
Alessi’s Ark and Ryan O’Reilly are included on the ever-expanding line
up for this musical extravaganza, which will see entertainment spread
across six stages.
