Album: Mr Love & Justice – Watchword
Watchword, the latest album from Swindon band Mr Love & Justice is 1960s-esque, simplistic-yet-effective, folk pop. Stand-out track We, The Chartists, which has a Wicker Man feeling to it. Never Know Why is another sterling effort.
Mr Love & Justice — who are named after a Colin McInnes novel — wanted to create something that sounded like the good old days and in this album they have. Nostalgic folk music is increasing in popularity. Mr Love & Justice are a band that deserves more recognition.

to put the record straight Mr Love and Justice (the band) drew their name (back around 2000) from the title of a Colin McInnes
novel. I think Mr Bragg (some years later) did the same thing.
He also did so shortly after being on the same bill as Mr Love and Justice (the band) on the Tolpuddle festival.

I like this band and this album a lot. Have seen them a few times at various festivals. Good honest music with a political twist. The CD is well worth tracking down too (if you can find it) A bit of a folk concept album this one. Great that you’ve pointed it out to the wider world as this deserves a bigger audience.
