Listening to Guided By Voices is a bit like going down a very deep mine. Lead singer Robert Pollard has well over 1,600 songs under his name and usually releases at least three albums a year… It’s a frightening prospect to know where to start, but there’s a lot of gold to be found. This nugget is from 2001’s Isolation Drills and is a great example of what GBV do best: incredible pop melodies with lo-fi rock sensibilities.
