#422 Justin Dean Thomas – The Night Is Far Gone

The journey from Boston to New York is about three and a bit hours by road or rail, but Justin Dean Thomas did not take I-95 when he headed south west out of Beantown, instead taking the scenic route as he hitch-hiked across America before finding his way back to NYC. By the time he arrived there, he had immersed himself in America’s great traditions of folk, country and rhythm and blues. He’s neatly boiled those experiences down to the four minutes and seven seconds of ‘The Night Is Far Gone’, a rich and evocative song which seems to carry within it the ghosts of so many great musicians.
