#205 Samantha Crain – For The Miner

We’re not ready to call time on 2013 yet, but we’ve already got something to look forward to next year with news that January will see the UK release on Samantha Crain’s debut album Kid Face after she signed to Full Time Hobby, that label that we’re always so grateful to for delivering regular installments of lovely sound from the Leisure Society. The Oklahoma artist ticks a fabulous array of boxes – from impeccable influences (Neil Young to Woody Guthrie to the Flaming Lips) to all the right endorsements and collaborations (count First Aid Kit as fans, the Mountain Goats producer John Vanderslice is the man behind the mixing desk), and from what we’ve heard of this record, it sounds like a belter.
