EP: Thom Stone – Hearts and Bones

Thom Stone is a scruffy haired English singer/songwriter who sings slow burning, acoustic folk-like music. His voice is unique and  — on new EP Hearts and Bones — often accompanied by a haunting humming. Now without his backing band, this new offering is raw, acoustic and impressive.

Part one opens with, You Can Do What You Like – it’s an easy listen but doesn’t really go anywhere. Things are stepped up for second track, End of the Road. Stone’s unique voice crackles through the song, with ghostly backing vocals. Title track Hearts and Bones is by far the best on the EP. Again it’s slow burning acoustic guitar number, but has a stronger feeling to it.

Something I said closes the double EP and is an almost whisper of a song. It trickles along and leave you with a sense of sadness — a beautiful song and nice to finish an impressive release.
