The Decemberists

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, The Decemberists have been spinning stories about pirates, ghosts, lovers and vagabonds since their debut album Castaways and Cutouts in 2002. Their folk rock and pop stylings combine with witty, tightly-spun and highly literate narratives to heartening, memorable and comic effect.

They Say: \\”In our world we have U2, Coldplay and 50 Cent to enchant us, we like global sentiments, easy to understand lyrics and power chords to draw out our deep emotions. This suits most people. So, for the intelligent and literate people among us, there are bands like The Decemberists, lyrically dense and rich, with enormously elaborate orchestrations that can explode like baroque fireworks\\”.

Band Members: Colin Meloy, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query and John Moen.
