Heartbreak lies at the core of Tanya Gallagher’s ‘Broken Land’. Stirred by a breakup with her longtime breakup, the Pensacola singer-songwriter is showcasing the searing Americana tune prior to the release of an incoming EP, One Hand on My Heart. Already lauded by For Folk’s Sake, the six tracks that comprise the album find Gallagher etching back into her groove in the light of this heartache. The result are a collection of songs that, with ‘Barren Land’ at its center, dig deep into the pain and liberation that comes with mending oneself after the fallout.

‘Barren Land’ shines a light on Gallagher’s intense ardor when it comes to conveying herself through music. Dagger-sharp lyricism is met by rootsy instrumentation with her commanding soul at its center. The 6 August release of One Hand on My Heart cannot come swiftly enough, but at least we have this powerful tune to keep us patient.

On the EP, Gallagher says, “A lot of this album was just figuring myself out and that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes. Music helped get me through.”
