Premiere | Enderby’s Room – My Old Friend

If you’re the sort of person that reads this blog regularly (hey, you’ve made it this far, so let’s assume…) you’ve heard Dan Mayfield’s work before. It might have been the sound of his fiddle on one of Darren Hayman’s records, or one of Allo’ Darlin’s, or the Wave Pictures’ or Daniel Johnston’s or somewhere else. But what you might not have heard is his new work under the name Enderby’s Room. Let’s change that for you, because Mayfield – having gradually been putting together a collection of his own work over the past 10 years – will release his debut album in April. Enderby’s Room – a rotating cast of around 30 musicians currently boiled down to five – blend together a Victorian pedal harmonium, French horn, double bass, ukulele, guitar and percussion, and ‘My Old Friend’ finds Mayfield topping all of this off with some sweet harmonies with Emma Winston (Deerful, Owl & Mouse). We think you’ll agree, it’s all rather lovely.
