News | King Creosote announces From Scotland With Love tour

King Creosote

King Creosote has announced a string of UK dates for later this year in support of forthcoming album From Scotland With Love, due for release on July 21st. The album was recorded in Glasgow with his band Derek O’Neill (keyboards), Andy Robinson (drums), Pete Mcleod (bass), and Kevin Brolly (clarinet) – as well as an additional string section (arranged by cellist Pete Harvey) and produced by music supervisor and guitarist David McAulay, with additional production by Paul Savage.

Fans of Kenny Anderson’s prolific and emotive alter-ego will, by now, know what to expect from a musician that’s recorded over forty albums with a list including Mercury Prize nominee Diamond Mine, the collaboration with Jon Hopkins.

But there’s even more meat to parts of this tour with From Scotland With Love providing an audio-accompaniment to a poetic documentary film of the same name, to be released for the Commonwealth Games this summer. The film will be screened live on dates in Glasgow and London (including a matinee at London’s Milton Court) to provide a full experience of an artist’s creative mind. Featuring archive footage but no narration or interview, the film works around themes of love and loss, war, resistance, emigration, work and play, and is driven as much by the music as it is the images.

From Scotland With Love will be released on CD, heavyweight vinyl LP with download codes and Digital. An extended version of the albumencompassing all the music from the film will be available on heavyweight double gatefold vinyl LP with eight bonus tracks.

Pre-order the album through label Domino Records. The standard edition and the extended edition are available through iTunes.

BBC 2 Scotland will also screen the film, From Scotland With Love, on the 22nd June at 10pm.
