Festivals | Cambridge Folk Festival: Sunday preview

By now, you should have your CFF routine down to a fine art. So, baby-wipe yourselves down, rinse your recyclable pint glass and ready yourself for the final day of folk festivities.

Continuing with its line-up of emerging talent, the intimate staging of The Den will play host to Dublin quintet The Young Folk, who’ll be treating us to tunes from their debut album The Little Battle, as well as some infectious girl-with-a-guitar vibes from the likes of Fiona Bevan and Liz Lawrence.

If you only manage to see one of the five, handpicked showcase artists at the Club Tent over the weekend, we can’t recommend Nick Mulvey highly enough.  Portico Quartet’s ex-hang player and percussionist has gone solo, released two stunning EPs and is sure to reduce the assembled listeners to pin-drop silence as he demonstrates his extraordinary musicianship.

Over on the main stage, Scotland’s Sketch should get your feet moving with their exciting mash-up of traditional Celtic folk and contemporary electro beats, whilst The Staves and their gorgeous harmonies will have you swooning in the aisles.

With more line-up changes than pints of ale consumed all weekend, the current incarnation of The Waterboys will headline the main stage, bringing the festival to a rousing climax with their 30-year-old blend of Celtic-folk-rock… and that song.
