Mumford and Sons album details, intimate gig, studio troubles

FFS are delighted to say that Mumford and Sons have announced their eagerly anticipated – and never has the phrase been so apt – debut album, Sigh No More, will be released on 5th October though Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records.

As if that’s not enough excitement for one day, there’s also going to be a new single – Little Lion Man – on 28th September (which is FFS Mum’s birthday, that’s her present sorted then). The boys will premiere the video for the single at a live show at the Borderline in London on 24th August. Tickets are £8, plus all the usual booking fee nonsense, and available here.

Frontman Marcus Mumford, speaking to the NME, revealed that producer Markus Dravs fair cracked the whip in the studio. He said: “The first time we walked into the studio he was like “Ted , where’s your bass?!” Ted goes “Er, I don’t have one…” and Markus is like, ‘Leave the studio, and don’t come back until you have a bass'”.

But despite that Marcus was full of praise for the cranky producer: “He’s one of my heroes. He’s done some amazing stuff.”

The Sons are embarking on a full UK tour on the 12th of September. They’re probably FFS’s favourite live act so be sure to catch them at a venue near you.
