News | Heavyweights team up for Sandy Denny tribute tour

Joan As Policewoman, Thea Gilmore, PP Arnold and Maddy Prior are among the artists confirmed for a tribute show to Sandy Denny that will tour the country in May.

The Lady: A Homage to Sandy Denny will be an evening of classic songs from Denny, performed by a huge travelling collection of artists, the full list of which reads as follows: Joan Wasser (aka Joan As Policewoman), Maddy Prior, Jerry Donahue, Dave Swarbrick, Green Gartside, PP Arnold, Thea Gilmore, plus members of Bellowhead, Lavinia Blackwall (Trembling Bells), Sam Carter, Blair Dunlop (The Albion Band), and Ben Nicholls (Dennis Hopper Choppers), with others to be added.

The night will span Denny’s entire career, from her work with Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, and as a solo artist through to the unfinished material that was released by Thea Gilmore on Don’t Stop Singing last year.

Denny tragically died in 1978 but is considered one of England’s greatest female singer-songwriters of all time, and interest in her work has only grown in recent years following the extensive re-release of her back catalogue.
