Break from gigs + new songs = Theoretical Girl album

Southend songstress Theoretical Girl will start recording her first album this November, hopefully full of similar tunes to the emotion-filled, electro-tinged folky pop she has produced so far.

The solo-artist, who is joined at her live shows by backing band The Equations, took time out from gigging in August to pen some new songs – clearly a good move, as she was soon signed up by independent label Memphis Industries, home to eclectic crazies The Go! Team and indie-pop girls The Pipettes.

Recording on the as yet unnamed album will begin in November, and the finished record should be out in the spring.

Make sure you catch the striking singer, who includes Kirsty MacColl, melancholy pop and afternoon tea among her influences, at the Luminaire on September 27 before she jets off for a mini tour of Germany at the start of October. Unless you live in Germany of course, in which case you can relax.
