#374 Eels – Mistakes of my Youth

‘Mistakes of my Youth’ is a retrospective of the self-defeating choices and actions of Mark Oliver Everett, one of the best people ever in the history of people who can both play guitar and sing songs.

With misty, laid-back guitars and strings, it’s a song that sees hope spring from regret and opportunities born from fuck-ups. Mr E declares his intention to own his experiences and find ways to like himself while he waves goodbye from his youth, and it’s beautiful.

‘Mistakes of my Youth’ is off the Eels’ forthcoming album The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett, out on 21 April.
