#59 The Electric Soft Parade – Brother, You Must Walk Your Path Alone

The Electric Soft Parade have been around a long time. The brothers White (Tom and Alex), who formed the band, were also in Brakes for a bit. Don’t remember Brakes? You might be too young, and that makes us feel old. The band’s first album, Holes in the Wall, was Mercury-nominated in 2002, and indie-pop fans who haven’t heard it before should have a go on it right away. But we are hear to talk about their new single ‘Brother, You Must Walk Your Path Alone’, which features a perky riff that plenty catchy enough to make up for the clunky title; gentle, dreamy vocals with slightly overly-poetic lyrics; a rhythm that shuffles slightly too close to a bossanova… all the loveable ingredients that a twee, indie classic.
