Video Premiere | Tiny Eyes – Just Saying

Joel Evans, AKA Tiny Eyes, wanted to write a love song but didn’t want to use the same old mould. “I heard somewhere that almost all songs are written about the start or the end of relationships,” he said. “What about the 99% of other stuff that happens in-between? Surely that matters too? I wanted to put this right, and just write a song about a normal day…Like all the best days, it starts with a hangover, turns to existential angst, then reconciliation, and ends with your partner punching you on the arm after you wind them up.” Like the famous passage from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, ‘Just Saying’ celebrates the day-to-day companionship of love. And if love has a way of feeling like ‘home’, it’s fitting that Evans recorded this entirely at home on his 1920s piano, adding percussion via a laptop and helped out on backing vocals by his partner Martha Bean. This sweet ballad comes on the back of Tiny Eyes’ self-titled EP, released last year, and serves as the first taste of an upcoming album. Watch the video premiere below now.
