At times, the internet can provide such a swell of mad-hat information at once that you just need to step away from the laptop, wipe off your sweat, and sit back with a well-tailored book for a while. At other moments, though, it can be a wondrous boon chockful of new discovery. For your humble writer, today has provided one of those latter beauts after happening upon a Reddit post—as the start of many adventures in the digital age go.

So, thanks, u/hiim_kyle. You (folk-)rock.

Wild Rivers is a quartet formed out of Kingston, Ontario as a natural extension of the duet project of Devan Glover and Khalid Yassein. Now joined by drummer Ben Labenski and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Oliver, the group are even more keen to produce lustrous modern folk with killer harmonies at their center. This much is certainly exemplified in this newfound live recording showing off the band’s chops in a performance of their tune, ‘Howling’.
