Roxanne de Bastion is really spoiling us right now. Just a couple of days on from her delightful session for us, she’s now handed us a first look at the video for her new single ‘Heart of Stone’, taken from the upcoming album Heirlooms and Hearsay. The album focuses on the story of Roxanne’s grandfather, pianist Stephen de Bastion (or Istvan Bastyai von Holzer), who fled persecution in Hungary to make a new life in the UK. Exploring themes of repression and its effects, and drawing on her family history, it seems fitting that to make this video Roxanne headed back to the city of her birth, Berlin, where she took a hammer and chisel to the Berlin wall as a toddler. “This is my fifth collaboration with video director Graeme Maguire,” she said. “We shot the music video to ‘Heart of Stone’ on a bitter cold day in Berlin. We dodged the ice rain and managed to get some beautiful shots of some of the last remaining corners of industrial S Berlin.”

Heirlooms and History is released on May 5, and Roxanne will be heading out on tour that week. The dates are below.
