Session | Roxanne de Bastion

Following on from recent our premiere of Roxanne de Bastion’s recent single, ‘Run’, we are extremely pleased to present Roxanne in session, with three songs from her forthcoming album Heirlooms and Hearsay.

The main inspiration behind the album, which was recorded in rural Devonshire, is Roxanne’s grandfather, a pianist and Jewish Hungarian refugee of the 2nd World War, whose survival story is as incredible as many who suffered (and suffer) a similar fate. Roxanne draws parallels between then and now, exploring how trauma gets passed on through generations and points a finger at society’s short-term memory.

Heirlooms and Hearsay comes out in May and Roxanne is running a crowd-funding campaign to support the release. You can pre-order the album, or choose other rewards, on her site. The launch gig will on the 3rd May at Sackler Space, Roundhouse in London and she’ll also be appearing at the Cambridge Folk Festival.

You can also follow Roxanne on Twitter, Facebook as she tours around the US, as well as finding her music on Spotify.
