Johnny Flynn & Magic Numbers to play at Shakespeare’s birthday party

Johnny Flynn

Did you know that when he’s not writing what are likely to be remembered as some of the best lyrics of our times, Johnny Flynn’s a dab hand at putting on a dress and a feminine voice and treading the boards of some rather fancy theatres?

He’s a classically trained actor no less, and has most recently appeared alongside Stephen Fry and Trigger-off-Only-Fools-and-Horses in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Apollo Theatre.

He is also, therefore, the most logical choice of an act to play at the birthday of a centuries-dead megalegend, otherwise known as Shakespeare’s Birthday Whirligig on Sunday, 21st April at the Globe Theatre.

The Magic Numbers will also be performing at this special shindig, along with what we can only assume are some actual magicians exotically known as ‘Barry and Stuart‘ and a man dressed as a dragon who may or may not eat small dogs.

It kicks off at 7pm and is outdoors, so thermal long johns and woolly hats are likely to be necessary. We’re not going to let that put us off though, and nor should you.

Tickets are £10-£30 from the Globe’s website.
