Huge amount of kit stolen from Noah and the Whale after Manchester gig

1 October 2009
By Lynn Roberts

Noah and the Whale have said they are ‘devastated’ after losing thousands of pounds worth of kit to thieves this week.

The band reported on their Myspace blog yesterday, that a trailer full of equipment had been stolen from the NCP car park in Trinity Way Manchester.

The stolen items include Charlie Fink’s prize white 1963 Fender Jaguar. He told the Guardian: “I used that guitar to record the album. I feel like a part of my personality has been removed. It defines so much about the stuff we do, the way that stuff sounds. I’ve been using that Jag in every show, every song for years.”

The van was left in the car park while the band members slept in the nearby Park Inn hotel after their Manchester show.

Despite the sad loss, NATW are struggling on manfully with their show in Oxford tonight. Charlie said yesterday: “This morning we were like ‘What do we do now? But we’re not gonna stop the tour. We’re just working out a way to do it in terms of instruments. Just because some guys have been complete arseholes doesn’t mean we should stop the shows.”

The band request that anyone with any information on the stolen kit call the police or contact their management company Coalition on 020 8743 1000 or zac@coalitiongroup.co.uk
