How would you describe your music?

It’s a mixture of pop, folk and indie music. Something raw and organic and strong.

When did you first realise that music was for you? What does it mean to you?

Everyone in the band has both grown up around music and always been into it. Marc, Virgile and Toby have all been involved in different bands and musical projects since they were young. Kilian’s dad is a drummer and runs his own music school, so for him I think it’s always been a part of his life. And for me [Poppy Jones, vocalist], I’ve had years of driving around with my dad as a kid in his milk van listening to old Bruce Springsteen albums, being given, as he says ‘a good education’.  So I think to all of us it’s a really simple but important part of who we are.

What’s the worst thing about being a musician?

Even though we love being on tour, going three weeks with out washing you clothes and living in the same pair of grubby socks isn’t so great.

What do you write about and what inspires you?

Things that inspire us with our writing are the things that surround us every day, like our friends and families and the situations that we’re all affected by from life. The sea and the hill tops and the big landscapes of where we’re from are also a big influence on us. They help you see things in perspective.

If you could invite three music artists round for dinner, alive or dead, who would they be and why?

Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Marley and Tom Jones, I don’t think there would ever be an awkward silence.

If you could have written one song, which would it be and why?

I know Marc’s would be ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis, but mine would be ‘Wake Up’ by Arcade Fire. I can never listen to this song too many times. I can’t explain the feeling I get when listening to it, but it’s good, and it would be amazing to make someone else feel like that through our music.

What are your ambitions for your music?

To connect with as many people as possible, for as long as possible. And to always make us happy too.

Finally, we’re always looking to expand our musical horizons. Do you have any recommendations of bands or artists we should be looking out for?

We’re really into a band from Sydney called The Griswolds who are on tour in the UK this May. They’re cool!
