Interview | Introducing…Mina Tindle

We loved Mina Tindle’s eponymous debut EP, and adored her first full-length album, Taranta. Here, we get the low-down on the latest French export to tickle our fancy…

Hello, please introduce yourself and your music to the uninitiated and tell us a bit about your latest release?

I play music under the name of Mina Tindle. I released my debut album named Taranta this year. I have been working for more than 2 years with my friend JP Nataf, a French talented singer song writer on this record. Mainly on the hills of Menilmontant in Paris, but we recorded some things in a chapel in Normandy, and beautiful trombones in NYC. And the record is named after a South Italian traditional music and dance of Puglia, a place I fell in love with these last years. I guess it shows my love for travels.

What was your best ever gig?

I guess the first one of the tour in Paris, my home town, last Spring had something special. It was the beginning of something new.

What’s the worst thing about being a musician?

Nothing really, except something very common to everyone nowadays – find, in a life time, the way to do everything you would love to do. Collaborations, experimentations, confrontations with other people’s music and inspiration. Everything is wild open. You have to choose wisely (or not)…

What inspires you?

People, travels, hearts…

If you won a billion pounds what would you do with it?

I don’t really want to imagine that, it would change all the rules…

Which of your songs is your favourite and why?

It changes a lot, but the ones related with Time. Either timeless songs , whose topics are often love, feelings… or songs that really refer to an event that already happened and get their meaning by being told afterwards.

What are you plans for the future?

Making a second record, I am really excited to work on something new.

Finally, we’re always looking to expand our musical horizons. Do you have any recommendations of bands or artists we should be looking out for?

Try to listen to Brazilian music, it is always something good for you…
