Brian’s Mixtape #17: The Laurel Canyon

7 December 2009
By Brian

Brian’s been around for a while, as much as he likes to keep up with the young ones, he has to admit that’s he’s getting on a bit. So old in face that he remembers another exciting time for folk music, the 60s and 70s in Laurel Canyon in California. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Jackson Browne, Neil Young and many others hung out and collaborated. So Brian’s put together a playlist with some of the music they created.

Spotify – Brian’s Mixtape #17: The Laurel Canyon

  1. Ladies of the Canyon – Joni Mitchell
  2. $1000 Wedding – Gram Parsons
  3. Twist and Shout – The Mamas & The Papas
  4. Ol’ 55 – Tom Waits
  5. My Man On Love – Judee Sill
  6. The French Inhaler – Warren Zevon
  7. Only Love Can Break Your Heart – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
  8. For What It’s Worth – Buffalo Springfield
  9. These Days – Jackson Browne
  10. Sweet Baby James – James Taylor
  11. Will You Love Me Tomorrow? – Carole King
  12. I Still Miss Someone – Linda Ronstadt

Brian’s been at this mixtape making lark for quite a while now. He’s found inspiration in all sort of places. Here they are in case you fancy exploring his acorn wine-addled mind:
