Editor’s picks… Matthew & the Atlas, Lissie, Gold Sounds, Henry Brill

We come across a lot of great music here at FFS, a lot of which we don’t get to write about in detail straight away, despite it being very lovely. Here are our picks from the past few weeks. Enjoy!

Matthew & the Atlas

FFS’s was lucky enough to be invited to DJ at the launch party for the Communion label’s second release – To The North by Matthew and the Atlas. We were absolutely blown away by Matthew and his band. Lead singer Matthew Hegarty’s heartbreaking worldly vocals contrast beautifully with backing singer Lindsay West’s angelic voice. Check out clapping cameos from Joe Steer of Broadcast 200o and ex-Cherbourger and now Communion boss Kev Jones. If you like that you can buy To The North or visit Matthew’s MySpace.

Gold Sounds

Gold Sounds won’t be new to a lot of you, as they’ve been championed by the bastion of quality music that is 6music. However, we’ve only just come across this video… and it’s great. Here’s their MySpace.

Henry Brill

Henry Brill and the Electric Co are a London based band who’ve played for Communion, Bloody Awful Poetry, Tv Nights at Ronnie Scotts. Check out their Myspace.

Lissie

This video has ‘gone viral’ as the grown ups talking about the kids say, so I’m sure no-one has failed to see it, but I love it, so here’s another chance. Lissie’s in the UK now and is doing all manner of festivals over the summer. We highly recommend catching her live. Check her MySpace for dates.
